This workshop offers parents a clear introduction to the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process. It will cover how school evaluations work, what rights parents have at each stage, and questions to ask along the way. The presenters, Shruthi Rajalakshmi and Dylcia Hernandez, will explain what to do if a parent disagrees with a school's evaluation, including the Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the process and their rights as parents. Shruthi Rajalakshmi is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and founder of Behavior & More LLC, a Tri-Valley based practice. With over 8 years in ABA, she specializes in evaluations for young children with communication delays, behavior challenges, and developmental differences, helping families understand their children's needs and navigate the special education system with confidence.Dylcia Hernandez Dell’Era, MSW, PPSC, brings over 20 years' experience in education and social work. As a school administrator, she witnessed how confusing school systems can feel for families. She understands how much can change when parents know their options and feel confident speaking up for their child. Her goal is to give parents practical information, honest guidance, and the tools they need to become informed advocates for their children. No registration is required.
