Learn the decorative art of Japanese mending Sashiko (which means “little stabs”) is a type of Japanese embroidery. It is used to make fabric stronger and add decoration. This class is hands-on. Basic hand-sewing skills are helpful, but beginners are welcome. What you will learn Basic sashiko techniques and a short history How to find supplies How to start and stop stitches How to create simple patterns Registration Registration is recommended. Please arrive early. If you arrive late, your spot may be given to someone else. Drop-in spaces may be available if there is room. About the instructor Cirrus Wood is a self-taught artisan. He enjoys learning new techniques and making clothing stronger and more visually appealing. He runs a mending and tailoring business called Dollars & Yen, which grew from years of combining Japanese and American design styles in his own clothing.
