Hear Yukio Shimomura share his personal experience during World War II and how Executive Order 9066 affected his family. His family was forced to leave San Francisco and was incarcerated in detainment camps in San Bruno, California (Tanforan Race Track) and near Delta, Utah (Topaz.) He will describe daily life in these Internment camps, how his family left, and where they later settled. More than 110,000 people were incarcerated, each with their own story. About Yukio: Born in San Francisco, he was in grade school when World War II started.Incarcerated with his family at Tanforan (San Bruno, California) and Topaz (near Delta, Utah)Later moved to Ogden, Utah, where he graduated high school.Studied at Weber State University and Utah State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Worked as an engineer at HP and later in Human Resources.Held positions in U.S. and Japanese electronic companies, including as Director of Human Resources. Has experience in management coaching and team building. Currently lives in Morgan Hill, CA.Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events.
