When most people hear “bromeliad,” they picture delicate air plants clinging to rainforest trees, but this remarkable plant family extends far beyond the tropics. In dry garden settings, the Bromeliaceae reveal a bold and unexpected side: dramatic towers of Puya blooms, strikingly architectural Dyckia, Aechmea, Deuterocohnia, Ochagavia, and Hechtia, and an array of forms adapted to arid conditions.
Equally compelling is the diversity of non-agave members of the Agavoideae subfamily (Beschorneria, Furcraea, Yucca, Hesperoyucca, Hesperaloe), whose sculptural forms and resilience make them standout stars in waterwise landscapes. Join us for an online webinar with our Curator of 46 years, Brian Kemble, as we explore the breadth and beauty of these often-overlooked groups.
Please note that this will be a pre-recorded webinar followed by a LIVE Q&A session with Curator Brian Kemble. (offered via Zoom) After registration (see below), you will receive instructions and a Zoom link one day prior to the lecture.
How it works: Register one person with one email at a time. If you would like to register multiple people, please register them each separately with separate emails. Registrants will receive a link to the zoom one day before the webinar. After the webinar, all registrants will then receive a link to the recording so they may re-watch if desired. Once the recording is sent, you will have seven days to watch. After that time, the link will expire. Access to the webinar recordings after the expiration date will be a charge of $15 (members)/$25 (non-members).
