A beginner-friendly class on drawing banigs, the traditional woven mats of the Philippines, with artist and author Kenneth Tan. Participants will explore a variety of line patterns inspired by Filipino weaving and tattoo designs. Attendees will then apply these patterns to create their own distinctive banig illustration. This program is part of Livermore Public Library's Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AANHPI) celebration. The event is on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Room, 1188 S. Livermore Ave. A creative experience designed for all skill levels and offering a calming, meditative, and enjoyable artistic process. No prior drawing experience is required.
